For the 7th year in a row, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Best Buy as an ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year. We’ve also received the distinction of Sustained Excellence for being awarded Partner of the Year for more than two consecutive years.
This award recognizes organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements.
We are proud of the recognition and the work we do every day to help our customers save energy — and money. Here are a few ways Best Buy is committed to helping our customers live sustainably with ENERGY STAR certified products.
In June 2019, we set our first goal around helping our customers save energy through products sold at Best Buy.
We are committed to reducing carbon emissions from ENERGY STAR products sold to our customers 20% by 2030 (over a 2017 baseline), saving customers $5 billion on utility costs over the products’ lifetime. This goal is certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and is based on ENERGY STAR metrics.
Training for Blue Shirts
Our Blue Shirts are an integral part of helping our customers save energy.
Over the last twelve years, more than 180,000 Blue Shirts have completed an ENERGY STAR training. The training gives employees tools and resources, such as Best Buy’s Rebate Finder, to help connect customers with energy-efficient products.
Online and in store
Whether it’s online or in store, we want to make sustainable products easily accessible to our customers.
On BestBuy.com, customers can use our filtering tool to easily find ENERGY STAR certified products. The ENERGY STAR logo is also featured on the product page of all certified products.
In our stores, the ENERGY STAR logo is featured on the fact tag of certified products. We also play our ENERGY STAR animated video in stores every year as a fun way for our customers to learn about saving energy with ENERGY STAR.
Winners of this award are selected from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners. For a complete list of 2020 winners and more information about the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award, visit energystar.gov/awardwinners.
