“We at Best Buy are honored to support the lifesaving work done at St. Jude every day by joining the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign this year,” said Sharon McCollam, chief administrative and chief financial officer at Best Buy. “We are thankful for the ability to give customers shopping in our more than 1,400 stores the opportunity to donate to an organization with the mission of finding cures for childhood cancer and other deadly diseases and most importantly, saving children’s lives.”
The St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign is an annual fundraising event where retailers and corporations, celebrities and the media unite in encouraging people to support the work of St. Jude – the Tennessee-based children’s research hospital that serves pediatric patients from all 50 states and around the world. Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing and food, so that they may focus on what’s most important – helping their child live.
“Participating in the St. Jude Thanks and Giving Campaign is a natural partnership for Best Buy, where we have supported our communities through the Best Buy Foundation for over 20 years,” McCollam said. “We consider it a privilege that we can serve the patients of St. Jude in this way during the holiday season.”
About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. St. Jude has the world’s best survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers, and treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since we opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent in the next decade. St. Jude freely shares the breakthroughs we make, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
