It’s overtly punny but true — the Super Smash Bros. demo event Wednesday night at 100-plus Best Buy stores was a smashing success.
Thousands of Nintendo fans turned out in droves, creating lines out the door to take part in the Smash-Fest experience and play the cult favorite fighting game on the Wii U months before its tentative November release.
From Arizona to Indiana, the coverage was plentiful and Twitter was a-buzz.
Good thing this uber-popular event is a two-day experience.
Wednesday’s run was just the beginning. From 12 noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, fans can visit their Best Buy store and get a sneak-peek at the game for the first or a second time.
Note: Those who pre-order the game on either the 3DS or the Wii U get a $5 My Best Buy Rewards Zone certificate when they both pre-order and pick up their game upon release.
